At Home PNW is a small, dedicated collection of (mostly) formerly homeless individuals with an amazing assortment of skills, all working on supporting our local Houseless community here in beautiful Thurston County, Washington. Sarah Birnel and Tony Cole take various supplies to the Houseless all over Thurston County.
We’ve been connecting with different camps in various parts of our community for some time, passing out food/water, hygiene and first aid packs, sewing kits, and most importantly, kindness. We believe in helping anyone in need, wherever they are at, with our overarching goal being to offer everyone respect, dignity and kindness. We have broad and various plans as to how to accomplish this task while partnering with existing organizations.
In time, we want to house people, and more than that: we want to give our houseless neighbors a chance to invest in the earth and enhance the existing gifts they offer the community, by teaching traditional indigenous gardening and farming skills, co-developing traditional homesteading style skills (canning/pickling, beekeeping, etc) and providing opportunities to build a sense of belonging in the greater community. We believe that these acts are a path toward improving personal, social, and ecological health and healing in Thurston County.
Our ultimate goal is to achieve financial, ecological, and social sustainability while making everyone in Thurston County feel “At Home”.
