Daily Do: Help Harvey’s Victims

Today’s task is to take an individual action to help the people affected by Harvey.  Much like our individual calls, a few dollars may not seem like much, but if every one of our 2,700 members gives just $2, that’s $5,400 for people in need.

I have been so moved by the stories of regular people helping first responders with rescues. For me, this is the core of Indivisible: beyond political lines, we can always find common ground and accomplish so much more when we work together.

Daily Action is highlighting Coalition for the Homeless of Houston. Many of our own members have also posted ideas for how to help and where to donate. Vox has a story with tips, as well: https://www.vox.com/…/hurricane-harvey-donations-charities-…

In the wake of Hurricane Harvey’s devastation, today’s Daily Action is to contribute (if you are able) to the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston, which is doing tremendous work to help those displaced by the storm and as well as those who had no shelter prior to the storm: https://www.homelesshouston.org/take-action/donate/

While there are plenty of national organizations helping with the relief effort, our contributions can make the most impact with groups like CHH, which have strong ties to the local community.

In-kind donations can help, but monetary contributions allow these groups to allocate their resources most efficiently. Even if you only have a spare dollar or two, every bit helps. Thanks!

At the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County,we rely on the generosity of individuals like youto help us coordinate community strategiesto prevent and end homelessness in the greater Houston area.If you have any questions, please contact Sara Brown, Communications Manager, at sbrown@ho…
