ACTION: Help the Homeless in Thurston County, specifically Homeless Camp, “The Jungle”
Today is the one-year anniversary of Indivisible Guide! What an amazing difference a year makes! I will forever be grateful to the originators for showing me, not only a way to gather and rise out of despair, but, more importantly, a path to being an active and informed citizen. Happy birthday, Indivisibles!
As the holiday season continues, it is vital that we remember not everyone has cause to celebrate. Just Housing “recently learned that the first steps have been taken towards a possible eviction of, “The Jungle” a local encampment. It is the largest and one of the longest lasting encampments in Olympia with somewhere between 150-200 people. The encampment is located on private property, divided between three different owners.”
We can support our neighbors this weekend with a community clean-up event, Jingle of Hope: https://www.facebook.com/events/533197300353995/.
Donations of clothing, food, money, and specific items for homeless are listed on the event page as well as details about volunteering for the community clean-up event on December 16 and December 17.
