Daily Do: Protect Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)

****Daily Do for Friday, September 29th, courtesy of 5 Calls****

The Graham-Cassidy vote may have been pulled, but that doesn’t mean Republicans won’t continue their assault on health care. The Trump administration has mismanaged and cut funds on enrollment outreach, there are widespread website outages planned during open enrollment, and there is a real concern that the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) will expire tomorrow without renewal. If Congress does not pass a bill renewing this funding, states will exhaust their federal CHIP money as early as December of this year, endangering millions of children’s healthcare access. Even if Congress does take action in time, some Republicans have proposed using this re-authorization to bill to push through other partisan legislation. https://5calls.org/issue/recOlc0pl4JKvJA4H

SCRIPT:

My name is [NAME], and I’m a constituent from Olympia, WA. I’m calling to urge [MEMBER OF CONGRESS] to pass a bipartisan re-authorization of the Children’s Health Insurance Program before the funding lapses on September 30th. Millions of children rely on this funding for insurance, and its re-authorization should not be held hostage to score partisan victories. Thank you so much for your time.
