5th Annual MLK Food Sovereignty Day of Action
January 20 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm PST
On January 20th from 9 am-3 pm HUG will honor MLK’s vision of a Beloved Community. “The core value of the quest for Dr. King’s Beloved Community was agape love… love seeking to preserve and create community.”***Building on MLK’s vision of nonviolent actions for radical change, we’ll focus our day’s work connecting with neighbors by doing a variety of activities – starting seeds for HUG and local farmers, transplanting strawberries, making medicines with our friends at Canoe Journey Herbalists, spreading wood chips, creating art, and more! This is a multi-generational event and very family-friendly. There will be indoor activities in case of stormy weather.Mobilizing the support offered to us each year, this will be a great day of action honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and helping HUG grow for the neighborhood! Accessibility, other questions, or more information: email@example.com or 253-642-7336.Our home base for the event will be Peace Community Center, We’ll meet there to hear a presentation about the history of gentrification and displacement nationally and locally, and then split into work teams for the Day of Action. Indoor activities, pastries, coffee, tea, and lunch will be at this location. Access: Sign in starts at 9 am. Schedule of the day is TBD based on participation.
