Civil Survival Project – Tacoma Workshop

January 12 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm PST

Civil Survival is an advocacy organization led and staffed by people who have been directly impacted by the criminal legal system. In this workshop, we will discuss the history of movement building, the legal rights of currently and formerly incarcerated people and how to find relief on issues such as Legal Financial Obligations, drivers licenses reinstatement, and voting; or how to overcome barriers to employment and housing. We will also discuss the advocacy tools needed to change laws and increase economic and other opportunities. This workshop is to increase kick-off our Tacoma Civil Survival Game Changer Group which is will be facilitated by our fearless leader, Omari Amili. It will be held at the UW – Tacoma in JOY 117. Come and be a part of a community dedicated to changing the narrative and laws of people who have survived incarceration. Many of our local and state level elected officials will join us on this day. Friends, family, and Allies welcome! The event is FREE, and lunch will be served.
