“Economic Justice and a Strong Social Safety Net”

This month’s interview on “Glen’s Parallax Perspectives” TV series helps us understand some of the realities of people who experience poverty.  Three guests with first-hand experience explore problems and solutions.

We provide insights about poverty and welfare from the 1930s to today.  We replace the myths and misunderstandings with valid information and smart insights.  We discuss larger economic and political contexts and nitty-gritty realities in local welfare offices.  We affirm the need for “welfare rights” and connect the viewers with a smart Olympia-based organization, “Parents Organizing for Welfare and Economic Rights” (POWER.

Cable TV subscribers in Thurston County can watch this interview on Thurston Community Media’s channel 22 three times a week throughout the entire month:  Mondays at 1:30 pm, Wednesdays at 5:00 pm, and Thursdays at 9:00 pm.

Everyone everywhere can watch this interview – and/or read a thorough summary of what we said (and additional information) – through Glen’s blog, www.parallaxperspectives.org in the “TV Programs” and “Economics” categories.
