The Protectors of the Salish Sea have been occupying the traditional indigenous gathering place of Sta,chas now known as Olympia State Capitol since Tuesday Sept 24th after walking 46 miles from the Tacoma Liquefied Natural Gas Construction Site. The prayer walk started on Friday Sept. 20th as part of the Global Climate Strike. As Governor Inslee was talking to climate activists in New York, more than 70 of his State riot police forcibly removed peaceful and prayerful indigenous Climate Protectors and their allies. Last Saturday people from all over Washington returned and filled the steps of the Capitol Building in support of the Protectors demands.
Note: This is an indigenous led event, if you chose to come, please be ready to follow the protocols of the the First Peoples of these Lands. Hiswke siem
Protectors of the Salish Sea have vowed to remain in the occupation indefinitely until Climate Emergency is declared in the State of Washington and all fossil fuel expansion projects are halted.
Millions and millions of youth are rising up around the world crying out to give them a future with a dying planet staring them in the eyes, the adult governmental decision makers must become as informed, wise and good a leaders as these youth and our First Peoples.
