“Golden Rule” sailboat opposes nuclear weapons: Short film with speakers.

February 26 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm PST

On Tuesday, February 26 from 7 to 9 pm at Traditions Cafe (5th & Water SW) Veterans For Peace and the Olympia Coalition Against Nuclear Weapons will show the short film “Making Waves: the Rebrth of the Golden Rule.”  Speakers will discuss the peace sailboat’s history and activities in opposing nuclear weapons.

In 1958 Quaker activists attempted to protest nuclear weapons testing in the Marshall Islands. Fifty-two years later, the Golden Rule was restored by Veterans For Peace members and continues to sail and warn of the dangers posed by nuclear weapons.

This event also seeks to raise funds to support the Golden Rule’s ambitious efforts to raise consciousness about nuclear weapons and build the movement to abolish them.

Get information from Zoe Byrd zoe2byrdz@gmail.com who is on this speaking tour, or from Jim Woods jimandvelma1981@gmail.com,  the member of Olympia’s Veterans for Peace chapter #109 who is Olympia’s organizer of this event.  Jim’s home phone is 360 459-9015, and his cell phone is 360 819-8102.
