Improvisation Is for Everybody

December 6, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm PST

Improvisation Is for Everybody: A creative workshop on Black music, love and survival with Bill and Naima Lowe ————————Life long collaborators Bill Lowe and Naima Lowe will present a hands on workshop on improvisation and collaboration within African-American Musical Tradition(s). We’ll use our voices, bodies, and any instruments we have on hand to make music together and learn about the culturally specific (yet expansive and inclusive) approach to improvisation that we use in our work. This session will give a glimpse into the generosity, playfulness, and rigorous exploration inherent to this musical form. You’ll also gain insight into how improvisation invites trust and collective action into any creative process, and see ways that musicians and non-musicians alike can use this methodology to build community. The workshop is open to anyone no matter the participants level of experience with music or performance.
