January 12 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm PST

Join us for an engaging and transformative presentation, in which Sofia Locklear will guide us in addressing the following questions and more: In working towards right relationship, how does our understanding of our own race impact our work? What are our hidden assumptions about Native people and culture? How do we begin to unpack our relationship to white privilege and settler colonialism, to better support Indigenous communities? Sofia Locklear (Lumbee Tribe) was born and raised in Seattle, WA. She is currently a PhD candidate in sociology, focusing on social determinants of health and whiteness studies. She also works at the Seattle Indian Health Board, where she strives to engage in rigorous and dynamic research that is centered around community cultural values, needs and ways of knowing as an effort to combat structural oppression. This Gathering will be held in the Chalet Building at Panorama, 1650 Circle Lane SE, Lacey WA 98503. The Chalet is located on the main entrance drive, next to the first round-about. When you enter the building, take elevator down to ground floor to join us for the Gathering. Presentation will be followed by a potluck.
