July Assembly – Sunday Assembly Olympia

July 28 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm PDT

Join us for our monthly Assembly where we build community together while finding new ways to Live Better, Help Often, and Wonder More!

Topic: Our Future in Space
Speaker: Todd Duncan

This month marks the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, which makes it a perfect time to reflect on the future of human space travel. Astrophysicist Todd Duncan will offer a few background thoughts and then lead a discussion of the goals, possibilities, technical and social obstacles, and likely pathways for the next 50 years of space travel. Bring your ideas, curiosity, and sense of wonder to help articulate a shared vision for our future in space.

Dr. Todd Duncan is a cosmologist whose work emphasizes glimpses of wonder that help us broaden our perspective & see beyond our limited points of view. Todd holds a Ph.D. in Astronomy & Astrophysics from the U. of Chicago, and Physics degrees from Cambridge & the U. of Illinois. He is currently on the Physics faculty at Pacific University, adjunct faculty at Portland Community College and director of the non-profit Science Integration Institute.
