Justice For Roxsana Rally at NWDC
June 1 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm PDT
In partnership with Familia: Trans Queer Liberation Movement in LA and activists in over a dozen other cities, we’ll be gathering outside NWDC this Saturday to demand #JusticeForRoxsana.
Roxsana Hernandez Rodriguez, a Honduran trans asylum-seeker who was held at a correctional facility in New Mexico after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, died in an Albuquerque hospital in May of 2018. The “preliminary cause” of Hernandez’s death was cardiac arrest, according to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement press release issued at the time. However, an independent autopsy report issued later found that Hernandez “endured physical assault and abuse while in custody,” according to a notice of wrongful death filed by the Transgender Law Center.
Join us to demand justice and dignity for Roxsana, truth about her death in detention, and accountability for ICE.
