Love Beauty & Planet World Oceans Day & Ocean Fest Beach Cleanup
June 8 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm PDT
~ Love Beauty and Planet & Love Home and Planet World Oceans Day & Ocean Fest Beach Cleanup at Purdy Spit ~
This World Oceans Day, Love Beauty and Planet & Love Home and Planet are partnering with Surfrider Foundation to organize 27 beach cleanups with nearly 2,000 people nationwide to help remove trash and plastic from our beaches that could end up in the ocean.
Come kick off World Oceans Day and Tacoma Ocean Fest 2019 and join us Saturday, June 8th and share your #smallactsoflove for the ocean with us!
The first 10 volunteers on-site will receive a special gift from Love Beauty and Planet!
This beach cleanup will be at the Purdy Sand Spit. Meet in the middle area of Purdy Sand Spit (see *Parking Logistics below). Look for the blue Surfrider tent and flag. Rain or shine, dress for the weather! We encourage you to bring your own bucket and gloves for the cleanup, but we will have some spares to share. Please be sure to wear closed-toed shoes or boots and bring your reusable bottle to fill at our drinking station. Our cleanups are welcome to individuals of all ages, schools clubs, Scouts, friends, family and coworkers.
Beach cleanups are a fun and easy way to volunteer your time by helping to keep our beaches and ocean clean!
Stay after the cleanup and join a Human Orca Mural! Check out the separate event for more information: https://www.facebook.com/events/2344369872497621/
See you at the beach!
We will be meeting close to the middle of the spit. Parking is available along the south side of the road (please use caution while getting in and out of your vehicle) and there’s more parking in a lot at the far end, opposite the bridge (please use extreme caution when using the crosswalk to cross the street). There is usually an outhouse at the far end of the spit, but no guarantee.
