Protest for Police Accountability-STILL no justice for Manny
July 2 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm PDT
Please join us for a peaceful protest outside Tacoma Police Headquarters on July 2nd at 5 pm to demand that the officers who murdered Manuel Ellis be held accountable!
On March 3, 2020, Manuel Ellis was brutally beaten, choked, tased, and strangled to death by Tacoma policemen. It’s been well over 100 days since his murder. Officers Matthew Collins, Christopher Burbank, Masyih Ford, and Timothy Rankine are STILL NOT FIRED. They are STILL NOT CHARGED. And they are STILL NOT CONVICTED.
This is a continuation of the protest that took place on June 18th. We are now Manny’s voice and won’t stop speaking out until he gets the justice that he deserves!
Despite occurring months ago, Manny’s murder had not gained widespread media attention until recently, when several videos surfaced capturing the police choking, beating, tasing, and strangling him to death, including a video in which he can be heard begging for his life, saying, “I can’t breathe, SIR.”
On May 1, 2020, Said Joquin of Lakewood was shot to death by Lakewood Officer Mike Wiley during a simple traffic stop for running a red light! Wiley is STILL NOT FIRED. He is STILL NOT CHARGED. And he is STILL NOT CONVICTED.
Haven’t heard of Said Joquin’s murder? Unlike the murders of Manuel Ellis and George Floyd, Said Joquin’s murder was not captured on camera. VIDEO MATTERS.
Meet outside TPD headquarters on 3701 S Pine Street at 5 pm! We will have speakers around 5:30 pm.
Please remember to wear a face mask! We will have some extras available for those who need one. We will also have water, snacks, and first aid kits available as well.
Parking in nearby streets/shopping centers.
See you there! Get your protest signs and vocal chords ready! We will continue making sure that Tacoma Police and the City/County/State hear our demands LOUDLY and CLEARLY!
