In our work together to protect WA’s people and environment, we know that pollution, climate change, and environmental degradation affect communities of color, native communities, and low-income people first and worst. There can be no true solution to the environmental crises we face without first addressing colonialism, racism, and wealth disparity that make the destruction of our environment possible and profitable.
The outbreak of COVID-19 has only exposed and deepened existing inequalities, from housing affordability to lack of healthcare. While as an environmental organization we do not work directly on many of these issues, we recognize the intersections between environmental and social justice, and the need to be partners in the fight for an equitable and livable world.
Now more than ever, solidarity action is needed with those already most impacted by environmental injustice. We remain in solidarity with those on the frontlines of COVID-19, recognizing many of them are also on the frontlines of climate change, toxic pollution, and natural destruction. In this spirit, we will be supporting in solidarity the action of frontline partners every week going forward, with education and action every Thursday evening.
We are stronger together, please join us!
